Bruce "Ski" Myers, 79, of Vienna, Virginia, passed away on September 19, 2026, surrounded by the family who loved him.
Bruce grew up in Perry, Florida, and went on to build a life centered around family, loyalty, humor, and a marriage that spanned more than half a century.
For 54 years, Bruce was married to his wife, Joyce Ann Myers, who remained faithfully by his side through every chapter of their life together. Their marriage was one of partnership, devotion, and enduring love.
Bruce was a devoted father to his two sons, Keith Myers and his wife, Laura, and Scott Myers and his wife, Michelle. He was also a proud grandfather to Hayden, Samantha, Mia, and Mason.
Bruce loved baseball and the Washington Nationals. On June 26, 2025, while traveling with Joyce through Chicago’s Union Station on their way to Detroit to watch the Nationals play the Tigers, Bruce suffered a devastating stroke. The stroke changed nearly every aspect of his daily life, taking away abilities most of us take for granted. What it never took from him, however, was his personality or his sense of humor.
Throughout the difficult year that followed, Joyce became his constant companion and caregiver, remaining at his side day and night. Even when Bruce could no longer communicate the way he once had, the humor that made him Bruce was still very much there. His family could still see the man they knew and he could still find ways to make them laugh.
Bruce’s life cannot be measured simply by 79 years. It can be measured in 54 years of marriage, two sons who were given the freedom to become their own men, four grandchildren who knew him as Grandpa, countless memories, baseball games, laughs, and a family that will carry pieces of him with them for the rest of their lives.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Joyce; his sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Laura and Scott and Michelle; his grandchildren, Hayden, Samantha, Mia, and Mason; and the family and friends fortunate enough to have known him.
Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Bruce’s life on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 6:30–9:30 p.m. at: Elks Lodge #2188 8421 Arlington Boulevard Fairfax, VA 22031
The family hopes those who knew and loved Bruce will join them to remember him, share stories and laughter, and celebrate a life that meant so much to so many.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial contributions to Elks Lodge #2188, an organization that was meaningful to Bruce and his family.
