Cecile Giroux Reny

Cecile was born in Winslow, Maine, on February 4, 1932, to Charles and Rachel Giroux. After she graduated from Waterville High School, she married the love of her life, Robert Reny. As a proud Air Force military spouse, she had “a lot of mileage” and lived in many different places (Washington [State], Guam, Maine, Spain, and Virginia) before finally retiring to Florida. After a long stint in Florida, in 2012, she moved to Woodbridge, Virginia, to be closer to her daughter.

Cecile was a wife, mother, Mémère, and great friend to all. She was a devoted Catholic, golfer, chocolate lover, and scrabble and bingo champion. Cecile was known for her spunkiness and wittiness. You could always count on her to be the life of the party - singing, dancing, and frequently carrying on a conversation in either French or Spanish. Cecile loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great granddaughter, and always lit up whenever she saw them.

She was predeceased by her parents, one brother, and three sisters; beloved husband, Robert Reny; and daughter, Donna Montgomery.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Himan (Jerry/Chito); son, Michael Reny (Jeanine); grandchildren, Joshua Himan, Jacob Himan, Sarah Himan, Joel Himan (Samantha), Thomas Montgomery (Elizabeth), Joseph Reny, Ami Walker, Gabriel Reny, and Christabel Reny; and great grandchildren, Cash Morgan and Leighah Himan.

Cecile’s family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff at Brookdale Lake Ridge for all the support and care they provided to her over the years.

A mass will be held on March 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart, 12975 Purcell Rd., Manassas, VA 20112 with a Celebration of Life following the service. Cecile will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
