Christine S. Wright, of Fairfax, Virginia, passed away at 9pm on Friday the 3rd of April 2026 at the age of 77. Chris was born on 28 June 1948, in Falls Church, Virginia, where she lived for a few years before she and her parents moved overseas to begin a series of USG assignments; the first being in Rawalpindi, Pakistan (1950 to 1953), Phnom Phen, Cambodia (1959 to 1962) and finally Taipei, Taiwan (1963 to 1966) which was where she graduated from the Taipei American School (TAS) as a member of the High School Class of 1966. After each overseas assignment the family would return to live in Northern Virginia (usually Arlington, Vienna or Oakton) until the next one.
In the Fall of 1966, Chris left to attend Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she graduated with a Degree in English Literature in 1970. After teaching high school English for a year, Chris decided to become a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines and flew with Eastern until the mid-1980’s, when an on-the-job injury forced her resignation and a change of careers. She then became a Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Counselor for Fairfax County, Virginia, until her retirement in 2018.
Chris was actively involved with her Fairfax neighborhood HOA and enjoyed baking, and sewing, of which she was exceptionally good at.
Chris was preceded in death by her beloved Husband (Mark L. Wright) her Mother (Mildred A. Schoepe nee Verkin), her Father (Carl J. Schoepe Sr.) and her youngest sister (Andrea C. Sallberg). Chris and her husband Mark had no children but instead, had a great love of small dogs; especially poodles.
Chris was the eldest of four children and is survived by a sister (Barbara E. Serban, husband Ray) of Wilmington, North Carolina, and a brother (Carl J. Schoepe Jr., wife Nicole aka Nyo) of Fair Oaks, Virginia.
The family would like to thank the Staff at the Capital Caring Hospice Pain Management Center at Sibley Memorial Hospital in NW Washington D.C., Building C, 5th Floor, for the exceptional care and compassion they showed Chris during the final two days of her life.
Chris chose to be cremated and as such, her ashes will be interned together with her deceased husband’s ashes until such time as their twin sectional urn can be buried next to Chris’s mother in the Clay Township Cemetery near the town of Genoa, in northwestern Ohio.
Family and close friends will be invited to attend a Celebration of Life event for Chris to be held on Saturday, the 25th of April. Invitations will be sent out shortly to alcon (RSVP only).
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Chris’s honor to either Service Dogs of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, or Friends of Homeless Animals in Aldie, Virginia; see the links below.
