It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jula Jordan Kinnaird, born August 19, 1954, in Lexington, Kentucky. She passed away from a recent illness on April 9, 2025.
Jula moved with her family to Virginia and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA from Randolf Macon’s Women’s College and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Jula’s career spanned 4 decades. She was dedicated to her work and professional life and touched the lives of many she worked with over the years. Jula was a great mentor to all who worked for and with her. Over the years, she worked at Mount Vernon, was President of the National Pasta Association, President of the National Grain Trade Council, Principal at Kinnaird & Mangan, Consultant at American Bakers Association, and recently President of Capitol Management & Communication consulting in Government Relations, Communications, and Marketing. She taught business writing at USDA and was a certified pet grief counselor.
Jula loved to read, teach, sing in the Unitarian Universalist choir, garden, and travel the world. Visiting family during the holidays, beach vacations in South Carolina, relaxing in their mountain cabin in Pennsylvania and family events in Colorado were very important to her.
She was a dedicated mom and cat mom, loving and caring for so many kitties over the years and will miss Chessie and TJ. Jula was an adored wife, sister, aunt, great aunt and wonderful friend to many. She is survived by her beloved husband Lynn S Mohler; sons Nelson and DJ; sister Anne Ringham, niece Rebecca, husband Mike; and their children Maddie and Ben; and nephew Jonathan Ringham, wife Courtney, and their children Willa and Emerson, and her niece, Sarah Cady Hardin.
Celebration of Jula’s life is planned at some future date.
