

Patrick James Ryan passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at the age of 73. He was born in Fort Lauderdale, FL on October 3, 1952 and throughout his life made his home in Yonkers, NY, Port St. John, FL, and finally Nashville, TN.
He graduated from Stranahan High School in 1970, earned an Associate’s Degree at Reinhardt College in 1972, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Communication at Florida Technological University (now the University of Central Florida) in 1974, and earned his Master’s Degree in Labor Relations from the New York Institute of Technology in 1986.
He spent his career in Public Transportation, working as a Labor Negotiator for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York, before moving to Port St. John, FL, where he was the Program Supervisor of Volunteers in Motion, the North Area Operations Supervisor, then the Transit Director at Space Coast Area Transit before his retirement in 2018.
He is preceded in death by his parents Robert James and Ruby Joyce Ryan, and his brothers George Ryan and Michael Ryan. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years Colleen Ryan, his brothers Bob Ryan (Joy) and Rick Ryan, his children Meaghan Morgan (Nick) and Cavan Ryan (Liz), his grandsons Killian Ryan, Flynn Ryan, and Grayson Morgan, and his cat Hugo.
He was passionate about sports, a diehard fan of the New York Yankees and the Miami Dolphins. He was actively involved in Fantasy Baseball and Fantasy Football, and was known for spending the entire offseason researching players and participating in mock drafts. He loved all eras of country music and frequently enjoyed playing the guitar for an audience of family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at the City of Cocoa Civic Center (430 Delannoy Ave. Cocoa, FL 32922) on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 1:00pm EST. Visitation with the family will begin at 12:00pm EST. In lieu of flowers, please consider mailing a donation in his honor to Volunteers in Motion, the Space Coast Area Transit program he developed to provide no-cost rides to seniors in Brevard County, celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year.
