

Carl Caskie McGann Jr., affectionately known as "Beaver", 65, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2024, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on March 1, 1959, he was the son of Lois McGann of Afton and the late Carl Caskie McGann, Sr.
Beaver is survived by his wife of 27 years, Lisa Maddox McGann of Amherst; his daughter, Brittany Choi (Tae) of Lorton, and his stepdaughters, Jamie Sexton (Larry) of Amherst and Dana Smith (Gary) of Amherst. He was a proud grandfather to Teddy and Mason, as well as his step-grandchildren, Larry III, Destiny, and Leah.
He is also survived by his five siblings, Cheryl Campbell, David McGann (Barbara), Bernadine Woodson, Mark McGann (Debbie) and Tina Barker (Mitchell) and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Donald Campbell and Lonnie Woodson.
Beaver cherished reminiscing about his baseball and softball days, often proudly recalling his title as the Most Valuable Player and how fast he was on the ball fields. He found joy in listening to music, NASCAR races, gardening, and spending time with his dogs. Beaver was also passionate about the outdoors; he was a bear hunter and loved trout fishing. He earned the nickname "Fish-man McGann" for his remarkable ability to catch fish with his bare hands.
A dedicated worker, Beaver loved running the chainsaw and took to the logging profession embodying the spirit of hard work and generosity. Beaver was always ready to give the shirt off his back to those in need.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Piney Mountain Bible Chapel, by Pastor Rob Mansfield, located at: 4034 Beech Grove Rd., Roseland, VA 22967 on Saturday, August 3rd at 1 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Piney Mountain Bible Chapel (Roseland) or Kingswood Baptist Church (Arrington).
The family would also like to thank all the nurses and doctors who cared for him during his illness and the Cremation Society of VA (Charlottesville) for their efforts and support during this difficult time.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
