Owen Bullard, 57, of Culpeper passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. He was born July 25, 1967 to the late Clifford and Sharon Bullard.
Owen was a proud graduate of Virginia Tech, earning both his undergraduate and graduate degrees. He was a law enforcement officer for 26 years and 4 months, primarily serving the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources but also serving the Culpeper Sheriff’s Office. Owen got to have his dream retirement job and briefly delivered car parts to local auto shops. Being a father and raising his three children was the most important job Owen had. Being a grandfather to Barrett was the most fun and they truly have a very special bond. Among Owen’s loves are his wife and family, the outdoors, wildlife, hunting and fishing, his dogs, shelling at Holden and riding his zero-turn mower. Owen had a great sense of humor and would do whatever he could to help others. Pancreatic cancer was a challenge for Owen but he won the day he went home to the Lord. Despite looking for a cause and help for years, he was proclaimed the healthiest person, with great bloodwork, by more than one medical professional, even in the midst of the worst. Do not give up looking for answers if your body tells you there is something wrong and do not let ‘the experts’ dismiss you as paranoid or anxious. Never give up!
Owen is survived by his loving wife of 35 years and best friend of 40 years, Martina Danek Bullard; his children Nicholas and Sarah Bullard of Culpeper, Zachary and Sarah Bullard of Fayetteville, NC, and Rachel Sharon Bullard of Charlottesville, VA; his God-given grandson, Barrett Anthony of Culpeper, VA; sister, Pamela Jean Bramhall and brother-in-law, Mike of Section, AL; brothers by bond, Donald Ulmer of Lovettesville, VA and John Elliott of Winchester, VA; many aunts, in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
His brother, David Bullard, preceded Owen in death.
The interment will be private. There will be a party later this year to celebrate Owen and his wonderful gifts to our lives. Details are being determined. Always make time in your day to love your family, appreciate your blessings and take in the beauty of nature.
