

Daniel was born September 12, 1948, the son of the late Russell B. Gentry and Dorothy Walker Gentry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Russell Gentry and two sisters, Mary Gentry Harlow and Jackie Gentry Breeden. Daniel is survived by his two daughters, Ashley Gentry of Mammoth, Ariz., and Amy Gentry (Buck) of Charlottesville, Va., as well as one granddaughter, Madilyn Stevens. He is also survived by one brother, David Gentry and wife Gale; nephews Greg Breeden and Mike Harlow; and nieces Karen Gentry and Victoria Bavetz (Jim).
Daniel graduated from Fluvanna High School in 1969. Shortly after, he joined the Army, where he served in Vietnam. After completing his service, he worked at Lake Monticello as a groundskeeper. He then worked at Jim Price Chevrolet doing body and Fender work. He spent many years at Taylor Auto Body Shop until he retired in 2015.
The Gentry family would like to thank Dr. Riley of Sentara Cancer Center and the amazing staff who cared for Daniel during his cancer journey. We would also like to thank Right at Home aides, UVA ICU, and the comfort/hospice care that provided Daniel with compassionate support as his journey of life came to an end.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Antioch Baptist Church, 4422 Antioch Rd, Scottsville, VA 24590, followed by a meal
