Jane Williams Burks

Jane Ellen Burks (née Williams) left to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. She was born on September 4, 1949, to Brainard Ballard Williams and Nell Wampler Williams in Marion, VA. Receiving her Bachelor’s degree from Emory and Henry College and a Master’s from Lynchburg College, Jane spent the majority of her career as a guidance counselor at Bedford Elementary School. She continued to impact others through her work as a longtime volunteer and employee at Brook Hill Farm, with Big Brother, Big Sister, as a D-Day Volunteer, and as an adjunct professor at Liberty University. In her spare time, Jane could be found spending afternoons at Smith Mountain Lake or gardening in her flowerbed.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Ronald Thomas Burks; and older brother Robert Williams and his wife Jane Bare Williams. She is survived by her sister Anne Williams; sons Kevin (wife Jennifer) and Blake Burks; and grandchildren Kara Burks, Trevor Morris, Gavin Morris, and Dylan Morris.

A service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, June 18, 2026, at All Saints Reformed Episcopal Church (122 Fleetwood Drive, Lynchburg, VA, 24501). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Brook Hill Farm at 7291 Bellevue Rd, Forest, VA, 24551 OR [email protected].
