

John “Jack” Lee, age 78, passed away peacefully from complications due to Agent Orange on April 24, 2026, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Born on January 30, 1948, in Scranton PA, Jack was the beloved son of the late John L. Lee and Genevieve V. Conway Lee.
Jack proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years during the Vietnam War, earning the National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and Air Medal. Following his military service, he began a dedicated career with the United States Postal Service before continuing his professional journey with Georgia Pacific, where he worked for 23 years.
Above all, Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Alice Lee; his son, Timothy Lee (Jennifer); and his daughter, Amanda Craig (Travis). Jack found immense joy in his role as grandfather to Nathan, Alicyn, Cian, Emercyn, Kylar, and Kooper, each of whom he loved deeply.
He is also survived by his siblings: Robert Lee (Sharon), James Lee (Mary Beth), Michael Lee, Terrence Lee, and Julie Williams (John). Jack shared many cherished memories and close relationships with his extended family, including his in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He held a particularly special place in his heart for his nephew, Andy Lee, whose generous kidney donation gifted Jack many additional years of life.
Jack was preceded in death by his sisters-in-law, Cathy Lee and Melanie Lee; his brother-in-law, Michael Sheck; and his niece, Paige Williams.
Jack will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his years of honorable service, and the love, humor, and kindness he shared with all who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Final burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.
