

Rosalee “Rosie” Leicester Britton was born March 29, 1965 in Windsor, North Carolina, to the late Sidney and Dora Leicester. Rosie passed away peacefully in her sleep at her daughter’s home on November 19, 2025 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Rosie graduated from Sussex Central High School in 1983. Her early career consisted of working for journalism and newspapers. Later in life, she switched career paths after caring for her ailing parents. Rosie graduated with her Associates Degree in Human Services in 2013 and shifted her focus to advocating for and caring for adults with physical and mental disabilities. Rosie enjoyed taking day trips to the mountains with her friends and spending time with her family. Rosie was always the life of the party and she never met a stranger. She was always willing to help those in need. Family always came first for Rosie, especially her grandchildren.
Rosie was predeceased by her parents, Sidney and Dora Leicester. Rosie leaves behind a legacy of love and family, she is survived by: three devoted daughters, Victoria Moon (Brandon), Taylor Jones (Tyler), and Samantha Franklin (Heath); three adoring grandchildren, Avalenn, Elliott, and Houston; one sister, Jeannie; one niece, Rebecca; and several other close family members and lifelong friends including Maryann, Martha, Bonnie, Lynda, Penny, Kasper, Kelli, Carnell, Dustin, and Danielle.
The family would like to thank the staff at Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center including Dr. Michael O’Neill, Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Onukogu, Stacy Goss, and Hannah Robinson.The family would also like to thank the Centra Hospice Farmville staff for their wonderful care and compassion during Rosie’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to encourage donations in Rosie’s honor to the Patient Support Fund at the Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center or the Lynchburg Humane Society.
