

Taylor Halsey Samuels, 79, of Orange, passed away peacefully at his home on March 24, 2026. Taylor is the son of the late Jacquelin Earl Samuels Sr and Margaret Eloise Halsey. He is also preceded in death by his brother Robert Ogden Samuels.
Born June 7, 1946, Taylor attended and graduated from Orange County High School and Bridgewater College. He began a career in social work, starting at Western State Hospital and ending at the Life Center of Galax. Taylor and his brother Jackie worked together in antiques and at Cinema Plus, video amusements, where customers and friends gathered for lively conversations, hearing Taylor's loud contagious laughter and large personality. Taylor had a love for dogs, friends, family, art, and antiques. He was known for his love of life, good food, kind heart, imaginative stories, and generous nature, never knowing a stranger.
Taylor is survived by his brother Jacquelin "Jackie" Samuels Jr, and wife Denise, nieces Rachel Gibson (Ryan), Margaret Samuels (Hunter), and nephew Jacquelin "Jack" Samuels III (Erin). He was loved by great nephews and nieces Taylor, Matthew, and Nathan Gibson, Jacob Hemp, and Millie, Jack IV, and Maybelle Samuels. Taylor had devoted life-long friends John and Terri Crawford, Anita Back, and Diane Brubach. He also leaves behind his precious dog, Peaches.
Taylor was often quoted stating, "I have lived a wonderful life and had a good time!" A celebration of life will be held May 30th at 1pm, in the village of Rapidan Virginia, 28298 Rapidan Rd.
