Albert Schneider parted this earthly life on June 11, 2026, at the age of 92. Born in Allegan, MI on March 21, 1934. He joins his parents, siblings, other family members and many friends on the other side. He leaves behind family members and close friends to cherish his memory to include: Cathy Drumheller, the love of his life and partner; Tina Weatherford, daughter; Tyler Weatherford; grandson, Bert Schneider, son; Andy Schneider; grandson; Jimmy Alexander, best friend and neighbor who looked up to him as a father; Cindy Salomone, step-daughter, her children and grandchildren who knew him as a father and grandfather; Deborah Gottwald (Russ), step-daughter; Ricky Slusser, step-son and his family; Ruth Schneider, sister; Debbie Duff, niece; many other nieces and nephews; and other extended family members and his rivah friends.
Al loved the river life, the beach life, fishing on the river and deep-sea fishing with family and friends. He lived to go boating on the Piankatank River where he spent the last 20+ years with Cathy. He welcomed everyone to the river with open arms and a heart filled with love. He loved taking the kids tubing behind the boat and trying to send them flying over the boat’s wake! He also enjoyed his nightly fires in his fire pit.
Al served our Country in the Army during the Korean War. After release, he worked at Honeywell and retired after 30+ years of employment. Then proceeded to keep himself busy boating on the James River, attending NASCAR races with Tyler, his grandson, Ken Weatherford (former son-in-law) and the rest of the “race crew.” His favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt, and he got a photo of Dale and Tyler (grandson) when he was racing in Richmond in 1995. He continued working various freelance jobs over the next 20 years until he retired to full river life on the Piankatank River in Gloucester.
His family wants to thank the doctors, nurses and other staff at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Richmond, VA, who went over and beyond for him during his stay, treating him with the utmost respect.
Al was generous with his family and friends beyond what anyone ever expected. He loved to listen to music and occasionally a spin on the dance floor!
A celebration of life will be held on July 25, 2026 from 1:00-3:00 at Freeport Landing. Contact Tina Weatherford at [email protected] for more information.
