

A devoted son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he was throughout his long life a shining example of kindness to others and contagious cheerfulness. He never met a stranger.
Amos was born April 19, 1928, Fauquier County Virginia to Amos J. Andes, Sr. and Lelia Early Andes. He was brother to Ray, Edgar, Harold, and Kenneth and a beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews. Raised on the family dairy farm, Amos learned early the values of Christian faith, hard work for the good of self and others, and kindness to all.
Amos attended Bridgewater College where he met his future wife, Mary Kathleen Ogden. Settling in Lynchburg, Virginia, he was a school teacher and assistant principal before moving to Richmond in 1971. He retired in 1997 as a Deputy Clerk of the Richmond Circuit Court.
He leaves behind his daughter, Deborah Belt ( Douglas) of Richmond; his son, Mark Andes (Virginia Beach, Virginia); grandchildren Matthew Belt, Carrie Belt Rogers ( Joshua), Jennifer Belt Pfund (Michael); and great grandchildren Mia, Phoebe, Lilly, Miles, Andie, and Atlas.
Family and Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Amos’ life on Friday, November 1, at 2:00 PM at Westover Hills United Methodist Church, Richmond
