

Ann Fitzgerald Phillips, 80, of Mechanicsville, VA, went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2026. She was known to many as Mom, Sis, Nana, Aunt Ah, Nee-Nah, and Punk. Ann was born in Staunton, Virginia, on January 8, 1946, to Earl and Elizabeth Fitzgerald. She worked at Best Products in transportation until their closing and continued at Estes Trucking until retirement. Ann was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for over 50 years and held a passion for hospitality, whether serving in the kitchen at New Song UMC or catering and hosting gatherings in her home. The beach was her happy place and she was fortunate to own and share her house in Nags Head, North Carolina with her family and friends. Ann is survived by her husband of 59 years, Martin Phillips; her sisters Becky Smiley (Tom, deceased) and Elaine Almarode (Jim); her daughter Amy Leonard (Mike); her son Robert Phillips; her beloved grandchildren Corinne, Melissa, Makenzie, and Koen; and many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at New Song United Methodist Church, 7450 Colt’s Neck Rd, Mechanicsville, VA on August 29, 2026, at 1:00pm, with a reception following. The family invites all who knew and loved her to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Ann’s memory to New Song United Methodist Church.
