

Bernard L. Barak born July 25, 1930 went to be with our lord on November 11, 2018 at the age of 88. He was a proud service man who served his country during the Korean War. Bernard served in both the Navy and Marine Corp. He will always be remembered by family and friends for all his generosity in helping any service member in need. He volunteered as a Marine Color Guard member during his spare time as he was honored to assist in the burial of a fellow service member. Bernard was also a devoted member of Journey Christian Church and volunteered at McGuire Hospital. He enjoyed being a part of the Marine Corp League. Bernard had a strong love for his service time and collected Marine Corp memorabilia. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents Julie and Peter Barak, and his first wife Shirley Barak. Bernard is survived by his wife Arlene L. Barak; Step daughters Julie Trent, Rhonda Felice; sons Douglas, Donald and Dale; sister Marianne Petro; brother Robert Barak, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A service will be held December 10, 2018 at 10:00am at Amelia Veterans Cemetery & Chapel. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veterans Services Foundation, James Monroe Building 101 North 14th St. 17th floor, Richmond VA 23219.
