David Lester Horn

David Horn, aged 81, passed peacefully to his eternal home on May 15, 2025 in Richmond, Virginia. Dave was born on October 27, 1943 to his parents Harold and Dorothy Horn. He was raised on the family dairy farm in Ringtown, PA. At age 21, he enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1964 - 1968 and was stationed in Germany as a medic. This inspired his interest in medicine resulting in his certification in radiology and nuclear medicine technology at Duke University. David enjoyed a successful career in the field of nuclear medicine and eventually transitioned into the field of nuclear energy and became certified in health physics.

He was a decades-long resident of Powhatan and Richmond, Virginia where he lived with his beloved wife, Elizabeth, and his loving son, Timothy. His passions included many outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, splitting wood, and gardening. Dave was known for his annual corn roasts and growing and selling elephant garlic by the bushels. A father of five, his cherished memories were spending time with his family during summer visits on east coast beaches and Upstate New York lakes, annual salmon fishing trips with his son Ross, and visits to his home by his daughters, Tanya and Natalie, and their precious families. While in Virginia, he also enjoyed his relationships with Liz’s family with sisters Patrice, Kris, and Mimi and their families.

David was preceded in death by his son, Terry (26); grandson, Ethan (21); and brother Bobby (66). He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Liz); and his children by his former wife, Moira Adams, Tanya (Michael), Ross (Melissa), Natalie (Tom), and his and Liz’s son, Timothy, and his 8 grandchildren, Chris (Anna), Derek, Julia, Jennifer (Justin), David, Carson, Lyla, and Lucas, his sister Mary Ann Luckenbill and brother Harry Horn (Libby), and many nieces and nephews.

His family would like to recognize the great care he received from the McGuire Veterans Medical Center, his amazing team of memory care caregivers at Barclay Senior Living and Crater Community Hospice. His wife would like to also acknowledge the special care provided to him in his final years by his son, Timothy and daughter, Natalie.

A service in his memory will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 11am at Stony Point Presbyterian Church, 2330 Buford Rd., Bon Air, VA 23235.
