LaWanda V. Johnson

Predeceased by her parents, Jesse and Laura Vogel, husband, Jimmie “J. R.” Johson, ex-husband Ernest “Bud” Zikes, Jr., son, Mark Zikes, and siblings, Lorene Sammons, Mary Nell Draper, Murl Blaine, Jessie Storey, Evelyn Ballard, Lois Foster, and John Vogel.

Survived by sister, Irma Wysong of Indiana and brother, Fred Vogel (Elaine) of Illinois; daughter, Cheryl Sebera (Dennis), son, Ernest “Skip” Zikes III (Gillian), and step-daughter, Teresa Frazier (Ron); grandchildren, Jaclyn Campbell-Wilson (Rick), Collin “Sonny” Elmore III, Ernest “Rudy” Zikes IV, Lauren Black, and Ryan Zikes; four great-grandchildren in Prince George and several great-grandchildren in Radford Va; abundant nieces and nephews all over the U.S.

LaWanda was Honorably Discharged from the United States Air Force after which she moved to Prince George County in the late 1950’s. She retired from Honeywell in the early 1990’s. LaWanda was on a bowling league for many years. Also, a longtime member of Sycamore United Methodist Church, where LaWanda “Wanda” served in several ministries including choir. LaWanda loved her dogs, chocolate, Elvis, Randy Travis, and her family, in that order. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, and watching her hummingbirds and her flowers grow. Heaven now has the kindest soul.

A Memorial Service will be held at Sycamore United Methodist Church at 9710 Old Stage Road Prince George, VA on Friday, October 23, 2026 at 11 A.M.
