Loretta Petty Chittum

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. And Mrs. Carroll T. Petty and her sister, Beverly vanWestendorp. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Warren, her son Carl, sister Denise Holt (Mike), niece Brittany, and nephews Mikey and Brandon.

She was a graduate of Douglas Freeman High School and Radford University where she achieved a triple major in Political Science, Sociology, and Criminal Justice and was active in her sorority, Alpha Sigma Alpha. Loretta went on to work for many prominent Political figures in Virginia including George Allen, Eric Cantor, and Peter Way. She also put in countless hours working on numerous political campaigns. She then went on to work for the federal government as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services under Secretary Roderick Page and Assistant Secretary Robert Pasternack. Loretta touched many people through her life and brought joy and light to those that knew her. Her memories, accomplishments, and contributions to the community will be remembered.

The family will be holding a private service and has requested any memorial donations to be made to Carl Chittum, PO Box 16, Doswell, VA 23047.
