Maura Breda Jentz

Maura Breda (Kiely) Jentz, a long time resident of Charles City, VA passed away on August 21st. Born November 25, 1940 to Thomas and Catherine Kiely of Riverdale, NY, Maura was a graduate of Sacred Heart of Mary High School and Chandler Business School. Maura spent many years working in New York City in the fields of advertising and broadcasting as an Executive Secretary before marrying her beloved Ed, a career Army Officer. She was President of the Officer’s Wives Club at Fort Leavenworth, KS and Fort Devens, MA. Her bubbly, inclusive and caring personality was always present, whether waiting for Ed’s return from the war in Vietnam or stationed far away in Iran and Belgium. After many years as a homemaker, Maura worked for the University of Delaware in their Personnel, Office of Instructional Technology and Disaster Research Departments, before moving to Charles City, Virginia. She will be remembered as a smiling, vivacious woman of gentle grace and good humour, infinite kindness, and limitless generosity and hospitality. She was readily accepting of everyone she met and knew, and ever ready to extend her enduring friendship and warm, caring regard.

A devout Roman Catholic, she instilled in her children a strong faith that they will forever be grateful for. She is survived by daughter Kathleen Tucholka (Fred), son Edward Michael Jentz III (Julie), grandsons Thomas and Ryan Tucholka, and her beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Gerald (Ann) Kiely and loving husband Colonel (Ret.) Edward M. Jentz. She will be laid to rest with him at Arlington National Cemetery.
