Pam was preceded in death by her parents, James and Doris Gosney of Salem, Virginia.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Bill, and her siblings, Catherine Gosney of Salem, James of Daleville, and John of Chesterfield.
Pam was housebound for several years beginning in March of 2020. Pam was enrolled by her Oncologist in hospice but by the end of September was transferred to home healthcare. Pam relied on the excellent care provided by James River Home Health and the wonderful services of personal aides, including Claudia, Beate, Serena, Martha, and Ojetta, while always under the loving care and watchful eye of her beloved husband Bill.
Pam was born on 4 October 1953 in Danville, Virginia and graduated from Andrew Lewis
High School in Salem, Virginia in 1971 and Old Dominion University in 1977 with a B.S. in Biology. She married her college sweetheart Bill and they moved to Richmond to begin their life together.
Pam loved to travel, including visits to Florida to see her very dear Aunt and Uncle, cruises to the Caribbean with family and friends, and trips with Bill on his out-of-town assignments. She had a wide range of interests, e.g., attending theatrical plays, volunteering at FIRST Robotics high school competitions, and assisting staffers at the local Public Broadcasting Station during fundraising activities. As a life-long diabetic, Pam was a lab assistant in the late 70s supporting diabetes research at VCU-MCV. She also participated in a clinical trial using a non-portable artificial pancreas, a precursor to the insulin pump. She was an avid reader, particularly science and science fiction.
An event to celebration Pam’s life will be held for family and friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.
