Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Neva Kirby Morris and John Haley Morris, Sr., brother John Haley Morris, Jr. "Pete", sister in law Elizabeth Taylor Morris, and her twin sister Linda Morris Garner.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 32 years Vernon Malone Chapman, daughters Laurie LeeAnn Morris and Merri Janell Chapman, one son Vernon Malone Chapman, Jr. (Carolyn), sisters Angie Morris Maiden and Brenda Morris Madison (John), grandchildren Hunter, Christine and Michael, great grandchildren Savannah and Maverick, and many other family members.
Wanda was a graduate from Varina High School Class of 1961. Her work career began with Anderson and Strudwick. She was employed later with the pharmaceutical company of A. H. Robins for over 30 years where she was in charge of employee relations. She organized many company events as well as volunteering for many charity functions there. Making friends was easy for Wanda and she maintained life long friends from the Robins employment.
Wanda grew up in a large family with her parents, 3 sisters and a brother. She was always encouraged to work hard and be honest to attain a good quality of life. Being kind, considerate and respectful of others was of utmost importance to her.
Wanda did not need frilly things. Laughing, playing cards, bowling, yard jarts and a good steak dinner with her family was just fine with her. She loved an outing to the beach on a hot sunny day. Boating and fishing at Brenda and John's river cottage was absolutely perfect.
Wanda enjoyed sewing and making quilts with Linda, a talent she inherited from her Mama. She loved the snow and when forecasters called for it, Wanda was not hesitant to call Linda to hop on a plane to Virginia so they could go out in it. She's had many hobbies and talents in addition to sewing. Easter she made sure everyone had an Easter Basket. At Halloween, she enjoyed making LeeAnn, Mark and Brad costumes. She was the Christmas bow making queen. She would also make everyone her delicious meatballs, cheese ball and sugar cookies. Her humor, kindness and generosity will forever be remembered.
Our family extends a special thank you to Suncrest Hospice for the dedication and love given Wanda and her family. Also, we want to thank our friends and family who have supported us during our time of loss.
Rest easy Wanda. We love you.
